Step challenges
You against a friend. Or two of you against two. Loser pays, if you want.
Lucilla turns steps into a game you play with people you know. Every challenge can be free. Some people like to put a little on it.
- 01
Pick a rival
A friend from your contacts, someone you met at the gym, or a stranger from discovery. In person? Start by QR, NFC tap or a code.
- 02
Pick the terms
1v1 or 2v2. One day, one week or one month. Most steps wins. Free, or a stake you both agree on.
- 03
Walk
Your watch or phone reports the steps. Both sides see the live count, all the way to the final minute.
- 04
Settle
The window closes, the steps are checked, the winner is called. On a paid challenge, the winner collects the pot.
Where you can do what

What does a paid challenge cost?
Both sides stake the same amount. The winner takes the pot minus a 5% platform fee. If it is a tie, both sides are refunded minus 1%. Cancel before it starts and you get everything back.
Why can't I start a paid challenge on Android?
Google Play does not allow real-money contests inside our app, so the Play build is free challenges only. If you are in a paid challenge that someone started on iPhone, you pay your stake in a browser at lucilla.app/challenge/pay.
How is the money held and paid?
Stakes are held in escrow for the length of the challenge and released to the winner when it settles. Payouts go to the wallet inside your Lucilla app, in USDC (a US-dollar digital currency).
Which wearables count?
Apple Watch through Apple Health; Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch, Garmin and Amazfit through Health Connect or Apple Health; Fitbit, Polar, Suunto and COROS directly from their services. Paid challenges need an approved wearable; free ones can use your phone.
Can I play in a team?
Yes: 2v2 is live, steps are added up per side. Bigger squads and free-for-alls are on the way and will show up in the app when they are ready.
What about tournaments?
The Lucilla Step Challenge draws everyone into groups of 8; the top two go through each round. You enter and pay on the web, by card, and walk your rounds with the app.
