Healthy incentives

Built to bring people back together.

Lucilla rewards the healthy things we do with other people: the walk with a friend, the meal cooked at home, the groceries bought well, the time together after work.

Why Lucilla exists

The last few years pulled a lot of us apart.

The pandemic kept families at home. Many people lost jobs, businesses and homes, and the cost of food and rent kept climbing. Since then, far more Canadians say their mental health is poor, more go without enough food, and more have no home at all. The numbers are below.

At the same time, most of what is built for us competes for our attention. Feeds want more of our time, and delivery makes it easy never to leave the house. We think too many people are sold a life on a screen instead of a life with the people around them, and that loneliness, poor health and these incentives feed each other.

We want to point the incentives the other way. Lucilla began as a simple game: a small step challenge with friends, which gets people outside and talking. We think the same idea works for a whole healthy life, so we built groceries, meals and sharing around it. The goal is strong, healthy families and communities.

What the numbers say

What changed, and what it costs us.

Since the pandemic

Less time together

  • 17%

Of youth aged 15 to 24 said they were always or often lonely in early 2024, more than any other age group. For LGBTQ2+ people, 27%.

    Statistics Canada
  • 31%

Of children and youth meet the 2-hour limit on recreational screen time. Among teens, 18%.

    ParticipACTION, 2026
  • 24% vs 15%

Canadians who kept up with friends only online were more often lonely than those who also met in person (2025). Statistics Canada notes this does not prove cause.

    Statistics Canada, 2025
  • 60 → 20

Minutes a day Americans spent with friends, 2003 to 2020. The same report says loneliness raises the risk of early death about as much as smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day.

How it works

Track your steps and meals, share them, and play friendly challenges.

  1. 01

    Track your day

Steps from your watch or phone, your meals and macros, your workouts, and a journal.

  2. 02

    Share it with your people

Post meals, workouts and progress to the friends and family you choose.

  3. 03

    Learn from people you admire

Creators and athletes share their journals, meals and training. See how they eat and move, then try it.

  4. 04

    Play together

Challenge a friend, or accept a friend’s invite: a step challenge, a 2v2 team or a tournament. Play free, or add a stake: you pay it online, in your Lucilla account, and your watch counts the steps.

Try it, then get the app

Try now opens the web version of the app. Sign in with the same Apple or Google account you use on your phone. Download the phone app to connect your watch and have your steps counted in a challenge.

Step challenges

  • 1v1 or 2v2, for a day, a week or a month. Most steps wins, with a live count on both sides.
  • Start a lobby and share a code or QR, or invite a friend directly. Bigger squads and free-for-alls are planned.
  • Tournaments draw everyone into groups of 8; the top two go through each round.
  • Connect your watch in the phone app: Apple Watch, Pixel, Galaxy, Garmin, Fitbit and more.

Where you play

  • Free challenges: on iPhone and Android, inside the app.
  • Paid challenges (an agreed stake or a tournament entry): you enter and pay on the web, in your Lucilla account, on iPhone and on Android. Google Play does not allow paid contests inside the Android app, so there is no paid entry there.
  • Tracking: after you enter, connect your watch in the phone app. The match is counted there, from your watch, not in the browser.
  • Devices for paid challenges: a watch or band is required. Apple Watch (through Apple Health); Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch, Garmin and Amazfit (through Health Connect or Apple Health); Fitbit, Polar, Suunto and COROS (directly from their services).
  • Free challenges only: your phone alone. If you have no watch or band, or yours is not on the list above, you can play free challenges but not paid ones.

Paid challenges need an approved wearable and have rules to read first. We cannot promise anyone will win money.

For athletes, coaches and creators

Share how you train and eat. Set your own prices for journal access, day passes and tips, or share freely with friends. Earnings and tax statements are on your account page.

How a paid challenge works

  1. 01

    Challenge or accept

Challenge a friend, or accept a friend’s invite. Free challenges need nothing more.

  2. 02

Pay your stake on the web

Sign in at lucilla.app/account and open Stakes you owe. This works from any phone or computer, including Android. On iPhone you can also enter paid challenges inside the app.

  3. 03

    Connect your watch

Open the phone app and connect your watch or band, so your steps are counted from the watch.

  4. 04

    Play

Walk. The app counts your steps and your friend’s, side by side. Paid challenges need an approved wearable; free ones can use your phone.

The first time you enter a paid challenge you agree once to the skill-based stake terms, and you must be of age where you live (18 in most places, 19 in some provinces and states). Paid challenges are not available everywhere. We cannot promise anyone will win money.

Start with the people you already have.
